Natasha Teetsov for Crystal Lake City Council: Collaborative Leadership for Our Community

After nearly 10 years in Chicago, my husband and I moved to Crystal Lake to raise our children near family. I feel lucky to have grown up in this special community, and I want to ensure it remains a thriving, welcoming place for generations to come.

Encouraged by leaders in Crystal Lake, I’m running for city council to be a voice for my neighbors. My experience as a local professional, commissioner, educator, parent, and engaged resident gives me a well-rounded perspective, but more importantly, I know how to bring people together. I am skilled at identifying voices that have been excluded or hesitant to speak up, ensuring they have a seat at the table. I believe in collaborative leadership, active listening, and thoughtful decision-making. I know how to work with people who see the world differently than I do, and I have experience mobilizing diverse perspectives toward a shared vision and common goal.

I bring a holistic approach to leadership as someone who lives, works, and volunteers in this city. As a realtor with Lewke Partners in downtown Crystal Lake, I help families and businesses put down roots. Since 2021, I have served on the Planning & Zoning Commission, guiding responsible development and ensuring thoughtful, sustainable growth in our community. I regularly volunteer with District 47 through the PTO, and I serve as faculty at Loyola University Chicago where I teach adult learners how to be civic-minded professionals at work and in their communities across the country. I know what it means to be a connector—someone who brings people together, recognizes the strengths of individuals and organizations, and builds the relationships needed to make positive change.

Crystal Lake has a strong identity, shaped by its history, charm, and traditions. I value that deeply. At the same time, our community should also be a place where innovation and creativity can thrive. We can honor our past while making space for fresh ideas that will keep Crystal Lake vibrant and evolving. Thoughtful progress and respect for our roots can go hand in hand, and I want to help strike that balance.

Let’s work together to build a bright future for Crystal Lake.
